John Cantiloe Joy and William Joy were brothers who worked together as English marine artists. During the 1820s, the brothers’ paintings were exhibited at the Norwich Society of Artists, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Academy and at the British Institution. They belonged to the Norwich School of painters which specialised in maritime scenes and views of rural Norfolk and Norwich.

Condition: generally very good; mounted to board.
