He was a drawing master at Cambridge University during the 1830s, during which period he painted many views of the Colleges of both Oxford and Cambridge, returning to Radnorshire in 1835. His works are in the collections of major galleries including the Tate, The V&A and The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. This is a particularly fine interior painting of the venue for the famous annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols.
