In 1991 Neiland was commissioned by InterCity to create a series of five posters in honour of the electrification of the East Coast Main Line and consequent introduction of the IC225 fleet of electric trains. His unique combination of realism, reflections and cityscapes allowed the creation of glamorous posters with the station buildings reflected in train windows, the composition held together with electric cables which give a powerful structure to the paintings.
The following year the King’s Cross poster was brought to life by Saatchi & Saatchi in their television commercial Welcome to InterCity. Neiland also produced posters for the new InterCity line to the West Country and also for the Highland Lines for Scotrail.
