Born in Walthamstow, Haslehust studied at the Slade under Alphonse Legros. A prolific watercolour painter of British landscapes his greatest work was the illustration of thirty-six volumes of Beautiful England published by Blackie & Son. A member of the RI, RBA, RWA and RBC, he designed posters for railway companies including LNER and LMS – including a series of three of County Durham for the former – and his illustrations were widely published in magazines including The Tatler and Illustrated London News.
