David Barclay Chapman (Wansted 1799 – London 1891). Partner in the bank that became – in 1896 – the Limited Company Barclay & Co.

Prior to photography, silhouettes were the easiest way of recording a person’s appearance. The present set c. 1850 possibly records those present at a country house party or a wedding.
